Becoming a Baha'i
What does it mean to be a Baha'i?
The founder of the Baha'i Faith has made a claim - that He is the voice of God to humanity for this era, as in past centuries were Jesus, Mohammud, and founders of the other great religions. Baha'is call these founders of religions "Manifestations of God" in that They make apparent in their persons all those aspects of God that we can comprehend. Each of these Manifestations of God have renewed the essential unchanging principles of religion for the peoples of their time and have brought laws and social teachings that were needed to advance the human cultures of their times. You can read more about this under the links in the "Baha'is Believe" menu on the right side of the web site.
A Baha'i is one who has examined this claim (that Baha'u'llah is the Voice of God for this era) and acknowledged that it is true.
Baha'u'llah promulgated laws and established institutions to maintain the unity of the Baha'i Community and to begin the establishment of a global civilization and of universal peace. A Baha'i is one who is working to bring this about. To join the Baha'i Faith we sign a card saying that we accept the station of Baha'u'llah.
